Tim Burton and Lady Gaga to Collaborate on “Another Project” After Wednesday

According to CinemaDrame news agency, Tim Burton has revealed that he will be working with Lady Gaga on another project following the second season of Wednesday. The Alice in Wonderland director made the announcement during a Q&A session at Italy’s Giffoni Film Festival, after a screening of Wednesday’s second season.

Responding to a question about working with the Joker: Folie à Deux star, Burton said: “Honestly, she’s an amazing artist, and I’ve recently collaborated with her a bit on Wednesday. And I’ve done another project with her.”

Last fall, it was announced that Lady Gaga would join the cast of Wednesday’s second season. She joined the show after recreating Jenna Ortega’s viral dance from the first season. In the following months, reports indicated that Gaga would play “Rosalyn Ratwood,” a legendary teacher at Nevermore Academy, expected to appear in the latter half of the new season.

Burton added: “She’s an inspiring artist, and I connect with her deeply. Collaborating with such a respected and remarkable artist is exciting. I’m not a musician, but she’s a true artist, and that’s been a huge source of motivation for me.”

Jenna Ortega previously spoke about working with Gaga: “She’s the best—without a doubt one of the most talented people I’ve ever worked with. Being alongside her and Tim [Burton] creates a very, very special atmosphere. They’re two people I respect immensely and have drawn a lot of inspiration from.”

A few weeks before the premiere of Wednesday’s second season, Netflix announced that the series had been renewed for a third. Steve Buscemi (The Big Lebowski), Billie Piper (Scoop), Evie Templeton (Return to Silent Hill), Owen Painter (Tiny Beautiful Things), Lady Gaga, and Noah Taylor (Law & Order: Organized Crime) are among the new cast members for season two.

In a separate interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Burton clarified that he has no information about a third Beetlejuice film: “No one’s told me anything. Maybe they’ve found a replacement for me. It took 35 years to make the second one, so I’d be 105 by the time a third comes out. I know it’s unlikely. I really enjoyed making this one, and [Warner Bros.] didn’t even want to do it. We made it like the first one, with actors who improvised. Seeing some of the old cast and working with Jenna was great. But it’s like recreating Wednesday’s dance—it’s fun, but I don’t necessarily watch it.”

The first four episodes of Wednesday season two will stream on Netflix on August 6, with the remaining four released on September 3.
